circling the drain

when you are seeing someone and you argue with your boyfriend or girlfriend, it takes you somewhere. both of you learn something about the other one and eventually decide whether to stay or to flee

when you are married and you argue with your spouse about something, it serves a purpose – to point out some flaw in the relationship and find a middle ground that both of u agree to take

but after a divorce, arguing about anything is pointless at times. the points are old and have been recycled too many times. that’s why when I hear the same ol crap I think of a way to end the conversation. arguing with an emotional person is tough. either I snap and kill the conversation by delivering a karate chop to his head or I just say what he wants to hear so the drama will end.

I need to learn karate.

I am not always nice, but I can be. I like reading more than writing, and I wish I write better than I do. I hope that I listen more than I speak because honestly, that's the kind of people I am drawn to.
